CUBS PROGRAM

The Cubs Program is the preliminary pre-competitive program of the Bryan Swim Team. The goal of the program is to teach young children the four competitive strokes that are needed to advance to a competitive team.  In addition, the program seeks to provide a wholesome, worthwhile physical and recreational outlet, opportunities for social and emotional development, and to foster a beginning knowledge and interest in competitive swimming.

The Cub Program can only handle a limited number of children, so tryouts will be held. The child must swim independently across the deep end of the pool.

Evaluations will be held June 7 , 2010, 12:00 (noon) @ Moore Pool.

Basic Rules:

1)    No Class if raining or lightening. (Listen to WBNO)

2)    Without consistency of attendance, little learning will take place.

3)    Allow the instructor to help your child overcome his/her hesitation to enter cold water.

The Cub Program will be split into two levels of proficiency, which the instructor designates:

Group A:  9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Monday through Friday

Group B:  10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a .m.          Monday through Friday

First day of practice:       June 8, 2010 (9:30 a.m.)

CUB MINI-MEET will be held at 10:00 a.m., July 9th, at Moore Pool.  Parents are encouraged to attend and assist with running the meet. The Bryan Times will be there at 10:00 a.m. to take a picture of the Cub Swimmers.

Periodically, the instructor will give news that concerns the Cubs program to your swimmer. At sometime during the season, you will be asked to contribute something to the concession stand for our meets. This is one of the ways that we can offer this program to you, through moneys raised from our concession stand and fundraisers. As a Cub parent/guardian you will be expected to participate in promoting Bryan Swim Team Association fundraisers.
